By the invitation of Organizing Committee of 2019 PENZ National Conference (8-10 July 2019), Prof. Dr. Ming-kai Chin was the Opening Keynote Speaker to deliver 3rd Robert (Bob) Stothart Memorial Address to over 200 delegates of PE professionals all over the country.
Bob Stothart served as two terms PENZ President and in 1990 Bob’s contribution to New Zealand physical education was recognized with the award of a Sir Alexander Gillies Medal of Physical Education New Zealand. Prof. Chin shared with the delegates on the new global direction and changes of physical education and health and how New Zealand can play an important role as one of the leading nations in health and wellness in Oceania and the global stage.
He was very impressed by the integration of fun, passion and academic studies between the delegates and professors in the PE profession during the conference and believed that is a model for other international conferences to follow based on his past experiences of organizing more than 20 major international conferences in PESS since year 2000.
With the accompany of Emeritus Prof. Dr. Ian Culpan, Prof. Chin visited the city government officials of Wellington in health and wellness and University of Canterbury Wellbeing Program to promote BRICSCESS 2019 in Cape Town, South Africa and explore the potential co-operation between BRICSCESS, GCH and the implementation of SDG 17.
